Contaminated Sites/Remediation Incentives

The Town of Hamden is focused on developing its commercial tax base, increasing job opportunities and improving the quality of life in its neighborhoods. They do this through the many activities identified in its long-range Economic Development Plan.

One of the important areas of concern for businesses and real estate developers are sites that may have contamination, and are considered Brownfields. There may have been a factory at the location years earlier that may have caused the problem. This issued is usually identified in the sales, negotiation and financing of real estate

Since 1998 the department has implemented a comprehensive, long-range Economic Development Plan that put initiatives into action.  Our department is very knowledgeable and experienced about funding and incentives for assessment and the remediation of Brownfield sites.
