Southern Connecticut State University Business Development Center, located in the School of Business, is dedicated to strategically matching Southern's resources with the needs of the local business community. By working together with the numerous resources available on campus, the office serves as a "one-stop shop" for companies that want to engage with the university.
New Business Construction Continues in Hamden

-- Over the past few years, Hamden has continued to experience significant commercial growth. Hamden’s Economic and Community Development Department is proud to report that three new construction projects; Casey Storage Solutions at 450 Putnam Ave, AutoZone (next to Bed, Bath and Beyond), and Advanced Auto Parts on the corner of Dixwell Ave and Mather Street are nearing completion. The total investment of the three projects is $7,000,000. The opening of these three businesses will also create job opportunities within Hamden. The construction of all these businesses has also filled up vacant land that had environmental challenges.
Carlton Industries Expands in Hamden

The Hamden Legislative Council has approved business incentives for Carlton Industries to move and expand its manufacturing business. Carlton Industries will relocate from Marne Street to 33 Rossotto Drive increasing their business and production area from 18,000 to 26,000 square feet. Renovations are expected to take several months and will be completed as early as Spring 2016

CERC to Honor the Hamden Economic Development Corporation as the Top Economic Development Organization in the Region

On December 2nd at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford, the Hamden Economic Development Corporation will be honored as the best economic development organization in the South Central CT. Region. The honor will be recognized at the annual Celebrate CT! Annual Year-End Event sponsored by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC). CERC is a nonprofit corporation and public-private partnership that provides economic development research and marketing services consistent with state strategies, leveraging Connecticut’s unique advantages as a premier business location

Cluster Meetings set for Early October

The Town of Hamden will hold two Business Cluster meetings in early October. Dr. Robert Henry to Build New Medical Office Building

The Hamden Legislative Council has approved business incentives for Dr. Robert Henry to move and expand his medical practice. Dr. Henry will relocate from a small rental location on Todd Street near Whitney Avenue to 3594 Whitney Avenue at the corner of Todd Street. The new space will be 8,000 S.F.and will include an expansion of his own medical practice as well as leasing to another medical group. Renovations are expected to take several months and will be completed in the summer of 2016.
