Hamden Economic Development Corporation Announces New Board Members

 

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) and its sister organization the New Colony Development Corporation (NCDC) is pleased to announce new board members.

“We are pleased to announce three very qualified professionals for our Board of Directors that bring significant experience in the field of brownfield and redevelopment”, stated HEDC President Steven Rolnick.

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (501c4) and the New Colony Development Corporation (501c3) are both non-profit Development Corporations charged with the redevelopment of blighted properties, to increase the grand list, to create job opportunities and to improve the quality of life and safety for all residents.

The new board members are;

Cathy DeFrances

In her role as an Associate and Business Line Manager, Community Development, Cathy leads the growth of new business and supports existing opportunities and clients for Fuss & O’Neill, Inc., a multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices throughout New England.

With over 25 years of experience working in many aspects of the industry, including property management, real estate development, architecture, engineering, construction, leading ultimately to Fuss & O’Neill, Cathy has been successful in forging relationships with a reputation for integrity and honesty. She is actively involved in many industry organizations including The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) where she served as president twice and received their first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. Cathy serves on the advisory board and is an active mentor for the ACE Mentor Program in Hartford and is a member of Professional Women in Construction (PWC) and CREW-CT, The Real Estate Exchange.

David Golebiewski

David is a licensed landscape architect and President of TPA Design Group in New Haven. For over 37 years, Mr. Golebiewski has been involved with analysis, investigation and site design for public and private development projects throughout Connecticut. Mr. Golebiewski is a graduate of Paul Smith’s College and Cornell University, was the past President of the Connecticut chapter, American Society of Landscape Architects, Chairman of the Wallingford Library Building Committee and member of the Lyman Hall VOAG Building Committee.

Rachel Rosen

Rachel is a Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) with 35 years of experience in both the consulting and construction aspects of commercial and industrial remediation and environmental site assessments. Her experience includes sites ranging from commercial strip malls to complex sites with over 100 years of industrial activity, redevelopment sites, dry cleaners, manufacturing facilities, petroleum storage facilities, and commercial properties.

She is the manager of the remediation department for Burns & McDonnell in the Northeast Region. Ms. Rosen's experience in the environmental field includes the performance and management of over 1,000 environmental site investigations at sites ranging from commercial strip malls to complex sites with over I 00 years of industrial activity. Her experience includes the investigation and remediation of numerous redevelopment sites, dry cleaners, manufacturing facilities, petroleum storage facilities, and commercial properties. Ms. Rosen has developed expertise in the design, cost estimating, and construction of a wide range of remediation systems.

 

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation has been responsible for numerous successful brownfield and redevelopment projects including the remediation and renovations of industrial buildings, structural repair program in the Newhall community, Rochford and Villano Park (s) remediation and restoration and the Hamden Business Incubator.
