Workforce Development Series Continues
“Everyone Gets a Job in Hamden: Exploring Career and Technical Educational Opportunities”
SESSION 5: Sustainability and Environmental Science:
Tuesday April 2nd
Friends Room at Miller Library: 630 PM
This workforce series promotes many career opportunities for Hamden residents, particularly students entering or leaving middle school or entering or currently in high school. All sessions are videotaped. At this session, you will hear presentations on the many opportunities and the earning potential there is for careers in Environmental Science and Sustainability.
Peter Solomon is an 11 year veteran teacher at the Sound School, a Regional Vocational Aquaculture School in New Haven CT. Pete will discuss careers in Marine Biology and Environmental Science
Jim Flynn will discuss new careers in the emerging field of Utility Management including water treatment, power and energy. Jim is a professor at Southern CT State University.
Cathy DeFrances will discuss careers in environmental consulting and brownfield development. Cathy is a Marketing Manager for Fuss and O’Neill, one of the largest engineering companies in the northeast.
Joe DeRisi is the owner of Urbanminers, a building reclamation company. He is also the recycling coordinator for the Town of Hamden. Joe swill discuss careers in recycling and the reuse of building materials….

· Information Technology: Coding, HTML and Artificial Intelligence (Date TBA)
· Job Readiness: Internships, Appearance, Interview Skills, Financial Literacy, and Student Debt (Date TBA)
