Hamden Approves Incentives of New Businesses

7/10/2012

The Town of Hamden and the Department of Economic and Community Development are pleased to announce the opening/expansion of four new businesses in Hamden. Two new franchises are opening their doors in Hamden with the help of the Town of Hamden's business incentives for property improvements. FroyoWorld has already started bringing in business to Hamden Plaza and Moe's Southwest Grill will be soon to follow. Also with the help of the Town, some businesses have been able to relocate or expand. Taylor Freezer of Connecticut, a frozen desserts and beverages manufacturing and repair company, has relocated from North Haven to Welton Street in Hamden. Taylor Freezer participated in the Town of Hamden's tax incentive program, which included a tax deferral, a property improvement grant and a waiver of the building permit fee. Deric Currie Insurance has also moved from his prior office and expanded to a larger one on Whitney after benefiting from the Town of Hamden's economic development incentives.

“Despite the difficult economy, our incentives have proven to be a great tool for opportunities for small businesses to create jobs and to help grow the Town's tax base,” said Dale Kroop, Director of Economic and Community Development.
