A NEW PARTNERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF SOLOPRESNEURS AND HOME BASED BUSINESES
The Town of Hamden and Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce Create New Initiative: First Meeting To Be Held Tuesday January 19thThe Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Hamden Economic and Community Development Office will collaborate on a new initiative for Home Based Business and Solopreneurs.
Solopreneurs are single person businesses that operate either out of some one’s home, in a virtual location or in a rented space. Although solopreneurs are often also home based businesses, each can have different needs for marketing, services and financing.
It is estimated that there are over 300 of these types of businesses that fit either category in Hamden. Officials for the Chamber and the Town believe that this is an important area for potential growth. “For years the Hamden Regional Chamber has been working to help members who are home based businesses to grow and prosper. Through this partnership the Chamber will be able to expand its’ membership and provide additional value-added services”, stated Nancy Dudchik, President of the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Town of Hamden offers Business Assistance services and a Business Incentive Program designed to promote the growth of very small business. “Our programs and services can really help these small businesses to take it to the next level. We have a strong track record of working with this size of business” stated, Dale Kroop Director of the Towns Economic and Community Development Office for the last 16 years.
Dale Kroop will co-chair the new Chamber initiative and will help develop a full plan for programs and services. This will include the participation of the Hamden Business Assistance Center will integrate and many other Chamber members and outside organizations that provide valuable services to small businesses.
“Because of the many responsibilities of a business owner, business that are of this size often need support and ways to get everything done while learning new ways to help them to grow. There are many, many great free programs and services that we can help them with” stated Dale Kroop.
To kick off this new initiative there will be a planning/organizing kick off meeting on Tuesday January 19th, 2016 at Hamden Government Center, 2750 Dixwell avenue, at 9am. Refreshments will be served. Members of the Hamden Regional Chamber and Town Officials will be on hand to help network with the business participating in this effort.
