The Hamden Economic Development Corporation announces the completion of four projects under the Newhall Soil Management program. Approved for the removal of contaminated soil resulting for renovation program, the program also completes minor drainage improvements on properties where there was subsequent damage such as sink holes and the depression of soil. Eligible applicants include those who participated in the Newhall Soil Remediation Program.

The four projects completed include

1. 477 Newhall Street: Replaced damaged soil from poor drainage, placed gutters on home and reset the dry well pipe to improve drainage during heavy rains.

2. 136 Bryden Terrace: Work included the installation of a curtain drain, removal of contaminated soil (while replacing a Bilco Door) and regrading of yard.

3. 197 Goodrich: Repair of a broken sewer pipe and regrading of the homeowners yard and installation of drain system.

4. 499 Newhall Street: Regrading of yard and installation of sub-surface dry well system and curtain drains.

Dale Kroop, Executive Director of the Hamden Economic Development Corporation explains the program for those who may have drainage problems that result from remediation work in prior years. “This program is there to assist homeowners who previously participated in the Newhall remediation program by providing funding to replace any contaminated soil resulting from home improvement such as addition to the home.
